THE NEW CRACK

Check out a rebranding project I did back in June that just went live! Crack in Portland! Crack is an amazing group that strategically designs, curates, and executes elevated experiences for environments where brands connect with people. They do some of the coolest installations I have ever seen. Once their site goes live (I designed that too) you should check out some of their work!altalt

Hummingbird Mixed Media Identity

I love this branding by Analogue in the UK. The use of different materials and techniques really makes this classic typographic logo something to look twice at. The metal work on the building is abosolutely beautiful, making typically feminine icons (flowers and birds) a bit tough and more modern. I also love the add of the water color art to the menu, it is such a nice soft touch in an otherwise raw and suprisingly masculine brand. The balance is so right on. alt

A PEAK INTO THE PROCESS

Sometimes you can create a beautiful identity and in the end it's not quite the right fit for a specific brand. The first identity shown below, leverages hand drawn typography and patterns based on South American textiles. It is soft, understated and elegant, while still maintaining that imperfect hand-crafted feel. The second is reminiscent of old cigar boxes and heroes Colombia. It is vibrant with a sense of heritage. The third is a simple nod to postage stamps with a warm sense of travel in rich colors. These were recent options for a current clients that were ultimately let go for a more alternative identity that more suites their message. The final identity, we are very happy with and I am excited to say will be launched soon along with more information about the brand! Check out the sketches below for a peak into the process!altaltalt

CAMPAIGN CONCEPTING

Campaign/Imagery concepting is perhaps the most fun part of the branding process. Bucketing imagery styles, pin pointing your look and feel, and seeing where your vision fits in the landscape of the current market are all necessary steps before finding a photographer, location, models and finally shooting. There is never enough room, so I almost always spends days working on the floor! Below is a peak into the process for a campaign that shot this past winter. By the way, it turned out great!
